Why Hybrid Flooring is the Future

Why Hybrid Flooring is the Future

There is good reason why hybrid flooring has gained such popularity as the flooring choice for Australian homes. With its waterproof and scratch resistant properties, it’s not hard to see how it fits the bill for many Australians looking to renovate or build. With its beautiful wood look décor prints and wood textured finishes, we think it’s safe to say that hybrid is the future of flooring.

  • DIYer’s rejoice!

Hybrid flooring is great at saving you time and money during installation, which is why it features a pre-adhered underlay. With no additional pre-installation accessories required, hybrid flooring can be laid straight over your chosen subfloor. This allows for easy, no-fuss installation, and means individual boards can be removed or replaced if necessary.

  • What’s underneath matters!

As the name suggests, Hybrid is manufactured from a mix of materials (generally a combination of plastic, limestone and wood flour or bamboo dust) tightly compressed into multiple layers to form next generation timber-look planks.

The layers of Hybrid include a tough protective surface coating, wood-look décor, tough vinyl wear layer, rigid or semi-rigid composite substrate and the pre-attached underlay, specifically designed for floating installation.

Embelton offer two ranges of Hybrid flooring core structures - 5.5mm Atlantis Stone Polymer Core (SPC) and 8mm Aqua-tuf Wood Plastic Composite (WPC).

Atlantis SPC combines limestone, PVC and stabilisers to create a high density rigid core that’s extremely dimensionally stable, resisting indentation and marks, while Aqua-tuf  WPC, is a blend of limestone and PVC wood dust, produces a semi-rigid aerated core, resulting in a lighter product with softer under-foot feel and superior acoustics.

  • Beautiful wood prints

Hybrid flooring boasts the most realistic wood décor prints we’ve seen in flooring. Featuring the beautiful grains and patterns of Australian timber and European Oak, these floorboards also have a textured surface layer, giving the feel and appearance of solid timber. Our new extra-matte finish adds an even greater look of realism, deflecting light and producing a hyper realistic wood look finish.

  • UV Protection

Finished with a UV resistant protective face layer the coating hybrid flooring not only helps withstand dents and scratches on the surface but helps protect the colour of your floorboards from fading due to direct sunlight.

  • Don’t forget Herringbone!

Traditionally seen in timber flooring, herringbone parquetry flooring is characterised by a zigzag pattern, which draws your guests through a room and adds a distinctive look to your home. Now available in hybrid flooring, you can enjoy the luxury of herringbone without the price tag! Which means all the benefits of hybrid flooring in a striking and luxurious pattern. Herringbone flooring is the perfect choice for those who want to set their home apart from the rest.
