Gloss, matte or somewhere in between, the short answer is it all comes down to personal preference.
The sheen on a timber floor will determine how much light is reflected from a 60-degree angle (i.e., how it looks while you’re standing on it), with gloss finishes offering around 70% lustre, while matte surfaces are around 25%.
Smooth Gloss
The timeless elegance of Smooth Gloss timber flooring speaks to opulence and dignity, its high shine remaining a favoured surface in many traditional or formal interior settings. As refined as the effect can be however, a polished surface will also show up every footprint, dust mote, smudge and scratch, requiring a constant regimen of cleaning to maintain its glossy good looks.
Matte Brushed
The deliberately aged look of wire brushed Matte timber floors evokes a rustic, homey appearance that complements a swathe of décor trends. Eminently suited to active family households and pet owners, the natural raw wood underfoot texture of Matte Brushed engineered flooring helps to disguise minor surface scratches and general wear and tear.
Smooth Matte
Smooth Matte flooring sits somewhere between the two, offering a classic, contemporary low-key sheen. A fail-safe design choice without the flat finish of Matte Brushed timber, it’s easy to keep clean and will disguise most small imperfections.
Our engineered timber products include all three surface choices, perfect for modern or traditional interiors. From spotted gum and blackbutt, wide board or regular, herringbone patterns or chevron, we have a durable, high-impact flooring solution to suit every home and individual style.
